With our friend Jason's fortieth birthday party at
Tomales Bay Oyster Company on Sunday, and no school on Monday, we decided to make a trip of it and got some friends together for a campout under the redwoods in Samuel P. Taylor State Park. It was a great opportunity, since Saturday soccer and Christine's random work schedule make it hard to get away for the weekend. Silas's anticipation built for weeks, and he had us packing as early as Wednesday.

| After the kids went to bed, the raccoons came out. They nearly made off with a leftover birthday cake. |
 |
| After oatmeal and cinnamon bread in the morning, the wolves came out |
 |
| After a rain-shortened morning hike, we packed up and headed home - stopping for hot chocolate in Fairfax. |
The 28 hour trip absolutely lived up to Silas's expectations, and there are enough campsites within an hour of home that we'll keep a lookout for the next sunny, open weekend to head back out.

What a great group! Silas looks so much older just in two months of seeing him in person. They grow up quick! The wolves are really scary!
Just found this...You have such fun friends & adventures! Loved seeing the pix. Time goes by too fast!
