odds and ends

Crazy hair day at preschool
(this is the crazy face to match) ok, so his hair is not that crazy... it's hard to get this straight thick white hair to do much (and we didn't think ahead to get some dye). Actually his hair looks a lot like Kevin's does every day... but a good excuse to get Silas to pose for a photo.

I was feeling like it was time to blog again. So because I'm still not ready to go through the Philadelphia photos (too late at night to get all weepy about living so far away) here's a few from the unblogged archives and the one and only photo we took on our camera of my dad's week long visit and a short but sweet visit from our old neighbors Sara, Nik, Asahel and their not so new but new to us addition: Ruth.

hoarding library books about reptiles, big cats, sharks, dinosaurs... he's dangerous with his own library card.

last rain of the season was in June, which is not typical.
But 2 typical things are depicted here: Silas in his pj's and rain boots in the back yard and Silas running away from the camera

preschool "Stepping Up" celebration, like a graduation day but not exactly because he has to go back for summer school.
this is also a great and rare photo of Silas hugging someone besides his parents, the lucky recipient is beloved teacher Catherine.

We had a nice visit with Papa last week, and we even let him leave the garage occasionally (he organized the heck out of the growing collection of garden detritis, bicycles and backyard sports equipment) I'm pretty sure he took some photos with his camera of our visit to Muir Woods and the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve tide pools, but alas... I only stole one photo of Silas and Papa reading in the back yard, that's more representative of our real life anyway.

and here's the promised photo of cutie Ruthie enjoying our crop of sugar snap peas (which Joey is also very fond of)
