Happy Halloween!

The young jaguar and his mother preparing for the hunt...

...but first, a little snack to build his strength.

And last week, we caught this rare footage of a cheetah watching a Serval at the Carolina Tiger Rescue.

(That's right, mom - Silas decided yesterday that cheetahs are old news. Fortunately, your costume can easily be converted to a jaguar!)

September 29th: Kevin's birthday, Silas's half birthday

34 and 4.5, the ages of the boys.

Earlier in the party... before we got wild with the face paint....

And here's a picture of the actual birthday boy (alongside our favorite teen babysitters, Jacob and Ana)

Kevin and Silas were both pretty excited about the cake, strikingly similar to Silas's 4th birthday cake. In fact the entire party was quite similar to Silas's... I must be running out of ideas. Silas and I decorated the cake together that day, we ate our body weights in frosting during the making of but that didn't slow us down when it came time to lick the decorations clean. All the kids enjoyed that part.

backblogging: Nancy, Susy and Jacob visit 5/10

I wasn't keeping up with the blog way back in May when our Philly friends Susy, Jacob and Nancy came to visit. But I'd like to remedy that oversight now, because I can.

That's the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, looks a bit bigger in person.
Sorry about the glare of flash off the shuttle windshield (is it called a windshield or an atmosphere shield?) These pictures were taken at the Space Shuttle display at the Habitot Museum. This play space is built of old electronics, rotary phones and interesting plastic tubes. Nearby is the face painting area, Silas's favorite.

Hmmm... does this space suit come in a larger size?
Jacob was jet-lagged and had to squeeze in a nap where he could in our busy sight-seeing schedule. Wake up Jacob we're at the Pacific Ocean! We had a hilariously raucous meal with 2 kids, wine, white table cloths and sweeping ocean views at Cliff House that day. But of course I didn't get any pictures (see list of distractions above)
I'd like to encourage everyone to come visit us in Berkeley and you too can have this much fun!
