Yake Tahoe

In early March we got to go on a little vacation to Lake Tahoe (pronounced Yake Tahoe by Siyas who is still working on his "L" sounds) with Auntie 'Cole who flew over from Florida to do some snow skiing. Silas took one nap out of the four days we were traveling, so he's a bit cross eyed in some of the photos but overall I think he had a good time. And we caught up on the missed sleep, eventually.

On the 3 hours turned into 5 hours long drive to Tahoe... Silas enjoys his cheese stick.

How did we turn a 3 hours drive into 5 you ask?... by stopping at a park north of Sacramento to enjoy the swings and the animals at the mini farm... and stopping for frequent coffee refills.Silas was happy to see Nicole again to show her how much he looooooves the 'tar shirt she gave him (guitar shirt) and coincidentally they both have favorite red hats right now.

The gondola (gondoya) ride up to Heavenly was a highlight for Christine and Silas.

The grown ups were very impressed with the view of the beautiful mountains and Silas enjoyed the "big water" but he complained that there weren't enough "big boats" to see.
Another highlight for the non-skiers: Emerald Bay. Although Silas was way tired on this outing.

At the lake edge with snow...

and without snow.
Thanks for coming on vacation with us Auntie 'Cole!

Almost 2

Running on the Nimitz Trail in Tilden Regional Park

Watching the boats on the bay at the Berkeley Marina.

Silas is almost 2 (March 29th) and you can't miss the fact that he's leaving his babyhood behind. It shows in his constantly skinned knees and his flowing blond hair (so different from his baby fuzz).

He is also talking up a storm. He tells jokes, which he finds hilarious: "Joey eat PIZZA? NOOOOO!" "Daddy is a tiny kayak!!" He gives commands: "Siyas go outside NOW! Need SHOES ON!" He's working on his grammar and he's very fond of the subjunctive mood: "Daddy could help." "Mommy could close her phone." "Joey could move."

He can reach the pedals on his tricycle now (of course he prefers to drag his feet and have us push)
He is now brave enough to venture into the bouncy house at the YMCA kindergym.

And he has a continuing passion for his train set.

He's also very fond of putting things away. Of course, we sometimes have different ideas about what it means to clean up. This is actually the Tupperware drawer.... and where is the Tupperware??I love watching him while he sleeps, his hair gets wild, his cheeks get pink, he cuddles (and occasionally nibbles on) his blankee (aka: boey, alternate spelling: bowie), and he sometimes talks in his sleep ("No Mommy No! Siyas turn!" "Another one raisin!")

Wow.
