Chicken (not so) Little

Here are the Halloween photos, hot off the digital camera. Silas is very into chickens ever since he spent some time with them in Florida at Uncle J, Aunt Dee and Uncle Jeremy's house. When asked "What does a chicken say?" he responds "Ble Ble". I guess that's what he hears them say. He then promptly demonstrates how they use their "TOE TOE" to dig in the dirt looking for bug snacks. I have yet to capture this on film, so you'll just have to believe me, it's hilarious. The video at the end is evidence of our attempts.

We very happily got to borrow our friend Nikhil's chicken costume. Silas enjoyed wearing it to the library story time, lunch at the toddler climbing wall playground, and sitting outside our house tonight waiting for trick or treaters with Joey JoJo (who was a boisterous Eagles fan in his hoodie and "yelled" at all the kids who knocked on our door)

Also, our camera is on it's last leg, it wasn't working well a week ago when Elise breezed through town for a very short but lovely visit which was a good alternative to her going back home to San Diego during the fires. She posted some photos of her visit on her blog. And then Kevin's mom came to visit for the weekend and the camera was so uncooperative that I don't think we got any photos at all :( Hopefully Monoma will be able to send us some of her photos from the visit.

So long summer, and farewell Piel de Sapo

The weather has changed: it is cooler and rain has returned. There are even some leaves changing around town. It's very nice actually (I was worried I wouldn't enjoy autumn here in the Bay Area compared to the incredible color change in Philly). So I thought I'd post some of the photos of summer time activities in this last month.
Our entire family has enjoyed a love affair with a melon, a very special melon called Piel de Sapo, sold at the Farmer's Market. We would pick one up most every Saturday. Here's Silas hugging our last melon in his new wagon (a perfect vehicle for transporting bags of heavy produce alongside our heavy child, I even took it to the Berkeley Bowl today!)
And here we are enjoying that melon during our picnic dinner in the backyard.

I don't know what's particularly summery about this photo but I think it is a good photo to accompany his latest measurements: 34 inches long and 34 pounds. Wow.

And here he is enjoying a sprinkler puddle in the back yard.

It's been awhile...

We wouldn't want you to think we aren't having any fun out here...

because we are!

Exhibit A: running with Dad, while looking dapper in Papa's baby jacket (yes, it is a bit tight)

Exhibit B (1-4): at Grove Park Playground (4 blocks from our house)
