Takin' the baby out in the rain

Kevin ran a 15k trail race today. Silas and I braved the rain to cheer him on and enjoy the lovely French Creek State Park in Chester County. It was the least we could do considering that we had a swanky stroller and an umbrella to keep us warm and dry while poor Kevin and the other runners suffered through some major mud puddles and squishy shoes.

It's always fun to cheer Kevin and his running friends on at a race. Silas and I have been doing it since the "Cletus the fetus" days.

Gratuitous baby photos (part 2)

Kevin and I spend a lot of time admiring our kiddo, I feel that's the thing to do as a new parent, just falling in love.

We just can't get enough of each little dimple (he has them at the base of each finger),

his whispy baby hair (which is still looking quite blond),

those wide blue eyes (we both have brown but his grandmas have blue and green eyes),

and of course those cheeks!!! (luckily he enjoys having them pinched and he thinks it's downright hilarious to have them nibbled, so how can we resist?)

We are also very fond of dressing him in some ridiculously cute outfits that folks have given us or that I've found at the local thrift store.

He seems to enjoy being a fashion model, although he outgrows things with lightening speed.
At his 2 month appointment he was 24 inches long (95th percentile) and 15 pounds (above the highest percentile, so literally off the charts).

Although the heavy lifting is a workout we are certainly enjoying the "fattitude".

Happy Froggy's Day

Everyone asked if my first Father's Day was relaxing. Hardly, but it was fun anyway. I started off at 6:30 with a 16 mile trail run with Deirdre and Steve (Silas didn't join us), and then I made blueberry pancakes for Deirdre, Jessi, Al, and Diego.

After brunch, we joined the Schwarzes at the pool to stay cool in the 90 degree heat (Quote of the day: "Ya'll are some pale white people!"). I swam some laps, but Silas thought the water was too cold for swimming so he napped in the shade while I read.

After getting home, I gave Silas a bath to wash off the chlorine and wrapped him up in his froggy towel. He likes the warm bath water much better than the chilly swimming pool!

Wild times in Florida...

We're back home in Philly but thought you would all enjoy some more pictures of the fun we had in Florida...
We stayed out late drinking (milk of course) and had to take a nap during the dessert course.

Some of us went skinny dipping and then passed out under the bromeliads...

Silas met his Great Grand-Meemaw, who declared that he was the biggest baby she'd ever heard of, which must make him the biggest baby ever because at 89 she has heard of lots of babies!
And after a fun filled week we flew home... and Silas caught up on some sleep he missed out on during all the excitement.
